Town failed to break down a cynical and tedious Burnley side, who had midfielder John Spicer red-carded in the first half for a two-footed lunge. The Blues came closest to a goal in the opening period when Tommy Miller hit the bar. Late on, Jordan Rhodes made his senior debut from the bench.

Town continued their excellent home form with a 3-1 victory over Leicester City. Pablo Couñago put the Blues in front, before Iain Hume equalised. Foxes defender Patrick Kisnorbo saw red for the incident which led to Alan Lee netting from the spot, Jon Walters netting the third after the break.

Town's preparations for Saturday's trip to Charlton have been disrupted by a flu bug which has hit several members of the squad, as well as boss Jim Magilton. Defender Fabian Wilnis, who was set to return in place of the injured Alex Bruce, and midfielder Gavin Williams are amongst those affected.

Town's U18s staged an incredible comeback in the last 10 minutes to defeat QPR 5-3 at Loftus Road in the third round of the FA Youth Cup. The young Blues were 3-1 down with 10 minutes left but went goal crazy to cement their place in round four, Jordan Rhodes grabbing a hat-trick.
